Graffiti Archaeology

Do you ever wonder about the graffiti on the wall? I have often wondered how much evidence is left behind when another artist, or the city, paints over what is left behind. Could you see the work with infra-red, better lenses or stripping away the layers of paint?

Wall somewhere in San Francisco, I think...

Graffiti Archaeology lets you see what happens. This group documents art over time, letting you see changes in style, content and skill. The site only covers a few walls in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, but the possibilities are endless. It would be great to get a wiki of graffiti from all over the world.
